| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The best translation of Faust available, this volume provides the original German text and its English counterpart on facing pages. Walter Kaufmann's translation conveys the poetic beauty and rhythm as well as the complex depth of Goethe's language. Includes Part One and selections from Part Two.

Wonderful translation April 20, 2010 Joanna Owen (Seattle, WA USA) This translation of Faust is great, and on the left side pages you can also see it in the original German! The second part is also abridged. For anyone new to Faust, this is a good book to buy.
Not for non-German readers November 7, 2009 ivan guerra (Hermosillo, Sonora) This is perhaps a book for people who can read German or can follow the English translation, since it is a dual language edition. Otherwise, one should rather get another edition. At least the edition that I have is of rather cheap quality. I'm more happy with the Norton Critical Edition since it contains both parts I and II plus.
Remarkable Translation of The Classic "Faust" April 25, 2009 Charles R. Most (Indianapolis, IN United States) Walter Kaufmann has accomplished an especially difficult feat, that of skillfully translating the beautiful German verse into English verse without any significant loss in the meaning or the many subtleties contained in Goethe's great epic.
you'll see why it is classic February 20, 2009 M. Sander (St. Louis,, Missouri United States) This version of the classic tale is told in English, in poetry form, and in German on the opposing page. This is the best version of Faust I have found
A shame he doesn't translate the entire second half. December 14, 2008 W.W. (Detroit, sucka.) Kaufmann's translation, compared to the others I have suffered through, was a pleasure: lyrical, earthy, always readable. A shame he doesn't translate the entire second half.
